What it is — and what it isn’t
What it is
- Same asset in and out — e.g. you send USDT, the recipient receives USDT.
- Two on-chain transactions with no direct link between your wallet and the recipient’s.
- Screened for AML on every transfer, like any ChangeNOW exchange.
- Priced like a standard swap — the fee is already included in the amount you send.
What it isn’t
- Not a mixer — funds are not pooled with other users’ coins.
- Not full anonymization — both transactions remain visible on their blockchains.
- Not a way around compliance — suspicious transfers can be reviewed or restricted.
Private transfers are operated by ChangeNOW. Every transfer is AML-screened and may be held for review; in that case ChangeNOW support will contact you.
Private transfer FAQ
Is a private transfer a crypto mixer?
No. Your coins are not pooled or mixed with anyone else’s. ChangeNOW receives your deposit and pays the recipient from its own independent payout address, so there is no direct on-chain link between the two wallets.
How long does it take?
About 2 minutes on average once your deposit is confirmed. Slow or congested networks can take longer — the status tracker on this page updates automatically.
What does it cost?
The same as a standard swap. The difference between the amount you send and the amount the recipient receives is the fee, and you see both before you create the transfer.
Are there minimum or maximum amounts?
There are no fixed public limits. If an amount is too small or too large for the selected network, you’ll see an error as soon as you enter it.
Do I need an account or KYC?
No account and no sign-up. Like every ChangeNOW transaction, transfers are AML-screened and may occasionally be held for review, in which case support will contact you.
What if I send the wrong amount or forget the memo?
Always send the exact amount shown and include the memo / extra ID when one is displayed. If something goes wrong, contact support with your transfer ID — keep it until the transfer is delivered.
